IT would seem that an Irish invasion has hit Newcastle this year.

Last night, Daniel O'Donnell performed at Newcastle Entertainment Centre, and next month Novocastrians will be treated to a show from Irish duo Foster and Allen. The much-loved pair, who will celebrate 27 years together in 2002, will perform at ClubNova Newcastle on June 27.

The tour comes two years after their last visit to Newcastle and coincides with the release of their new album Sincerely. Sincerely is tipped to be another big seller for the easy-listening duo, who have sold more than 8million albums in their long career.

Mick Foster and Tony Allen got together in 1975 and had their first major hit in the US and the UK with the track The Rambles of Spring. Although a massive success story on home soil, it wasn't until 1983 that the duo gained international recognition with the track Maggie. The song topped the charts in Ireland, England, Australia and New Zealand and has remained the band's most popular song to date.

Foster and Allen have released more than 23 albums and 11 videos.

Tickets are on sale now and available from ClubNova Newcastle on 4929-7555.
