Sound Ripens For Peabody

Who: Peabody, Tucker B's
Where: Newcastle Leagues Club
When: Friday October 7, 2005

LAST month was a big one for Sydney indie band Peabody. On September 8 the trio celebrated its 10th year together and marked the occasion with The New Violence Tour, taking in a swag of shows across the country including a main-stage appearance at the Come Together festival at Luna Park. A handful of dates remain on the tour schedule including one at The Bandroom at Newcastle Leagues Club on Friday night.

Peabody has been on the road for much of this year, touring relentlessly following the release of their second album The New Violence. After plugging their sound for years and releasing one album and a string of EPs, Peabody has finally captured the attention of listeners.

It has proved to be the band's most successful and celebrated release to date.

``We thought we could do whatever we want now,'' frontman Bruno Brayovic said.

``Not because we're resigned to the fact that we'll never be well known, but because we're not really under any pressure people aren't expecting that much if they don't know you to begin with.'' With the tour set to finish in Sydney this weekend, Brayovic said the band is already looking towards making a start on its next record and will head into the studio early next year. Peabody will be supported by Tucker B's this weekend.

The show starts at 8pm.

Entry costs $10.
