NOTORIOUS underworld figure Mark `Chopper' Read and ex- AFL football player Mark `Jacko' Jackson make for an unlikely pairing.
But ever since they teamed to present a spoken-word stage show, the union has proved a winner.
Audiences will have the chance to hear the pair share their twisted tales when they return for what will be their third stopover in Newcastle this weekend. Punters can expect to hear stories both shocking and hilarious from Read, who has become recognised as one of Australia's most infamous criminals.
He was the subject of the hit film Chopper , starring Eric Bana, and has also become a best-selling author.
His infamy arose from a violent criminal career in the 70s.
Known to terrorise Melbourne's drug dealers, pimps and armed robbers, Read has always been quick to say that he never hurt an innocent member of the public.
Read and Jackson will appear at Newcastle Panthers on Friday night.
The show, titled Wild Colonial Psychos , will include spoken words from Read and Jackson as well as a question-and-answer session with the audience.
Tickets cost $25 and are on sale at the club.
The doors will open at 7.45pm.
