AS a native New Yorker, Steven Brinberg had little choice but to cancel his Australian tour after the September 11 attacks.
But being the true performer, Brinberg has rescheduled his tour and will perform in Simply Barbra at Club Nova Newcastle on May 11.
He is looking forward to his upcoming tour and is excited to be starting a fresh new Australian season of Simply Barbra.
The long-awaited cabaret features Brinberg in a witty uptake on one of the world's most stunning performers, Barbra Streisand. The show is a homage to the star, part parody and gently satirises Streisand.
But Brinberg is keen not to offend her many fans and his uncanny singing voice proves that his admiration for the performer is deeply etched.
The first time Simply Barbra came to Australia, the production coincided with the arrival of Streisand herself.
'My show is a lot funnier than hers has been lately,' Brinberg said.
Much more than a tribute or drag show, the 90-minute show gives an insight to Streisand's character.
Simply Barbra has toured the UK, America and Australia since making its debut in 1993.
With the trademark breathy voice, Brinberg is often compared to being just as talented as his subject.
