It's Fast, Fun and Energetic, It's Munkyz Unkle

IF you only had three words to describe Munkyz Unkle, you couldn't go past fast, fun and energetic.

And it's not surprising when the Brisbane four-piece rates some of its influences.

'We play fast melodic mid-core influenced by any bands from Satanic Surfers and Good Riddance to Bodyjar or Randy,' guitarist Adam Nigro says.

'We don't claim to be anything like these bands, we just listen to them.'

Formed during high school in 1997, the band has been committed to its live performances ever since.

Stating that they are 'committed to live performances first and the studio second', Munkyz Unkle has performed with many big names like One Dollar Short, Mach Pelican, Antiskeptic and Sunk Loto. But Nigro rates Munkyz Unkle's 2001 national tour with The Ataris as their biggest and most enjoyable tour.

'We'd be pretty stupid not to say that The Ataris was the best show ever.'

Munkyz Unkle's debut EP Such Is Life is out now through Fifth Wheel Records. Catch Munkyz Unkle at SJ's Hotel tonight with Draw the Line and After the Fall.
