THE Queen of hard trance and banging beats will hit The Mercury Hotel on Saturday night to serve up an energetic mix of dance floor beats.
The gig by Sydney's favourite female DJ BeXta will be her last before she returns in August to launch her latest album Mixology 4. Originating from Brisbane, BeXta, who's real name is Rebecca Poulsen, played her first DJ gig at 18 after spending much of her formative years writing songs on the piano.
She has released six singles, three albums and has worn Australia's most popular female DJ crown for several years.
As well as performing at major clubs in Sydney and events such as the Big Day Out, Homebake and Gatecrasher, BeXta also works her magic in the studio as a producer and remixer.
Past remix work has seen her tinker with tracks from acts such as Pee Wee Ferris and sonicanimation. She concedes DJ-ing is a lot simpler than performing live.
'It's a very different beast,' BeXta said.
'Technically, you don't have to think about it as much, you just have to make sure that a whole bunch of stuff is working and everything sounds OK.
'I enjoy playing other people's music to see what works and what doesn't.'
Tickets to BeXta will be available at the door.
