Where: The Cambridge Hotel

AFTER a three-month break Operation Lager is back with a new name, a new line-up and brand-new material.

Now going by the name Operation Lager and The I Love Busey Show, the group will make their official comeback at Ska Trek: Episode Two on Saturday night.

Once known as a humorous punk band, the group now incorporates musical styles such as Latin, jazz, funk, ska and Caribbean into its sound.

Bass player Greg Redfern said the group began experimenting with different genres of music when drummer Alan Whitehead began taking djemba lessons.

'We started listening to a lot of world music and we just got sick of playing punk music,' Greg said.

The group's interesting name choice holds no special meaning, it was simply the best one they could agree on.

Catch the band at The Lucky Country on Friday night with Schlauncher and Strength To Strength and at The Cambridge Hotel on Saturday night.
