AUSTRALIAN hip-hop act Resin Dogs will make the trip to Newcastle to get down and funky at SJ's Hotel on Sunday night with Good Buddha and Fatt Dex. The Resin Dogs first unleashed their Australian blend of funk and hip hop in 1996 and have since become one of the freshest acts to come out of Oz.
Their debut album Grandtheft Auto sold 25,000 copies and boasted tracks like Gimme A Break and Daily Trouble, which both received national airplay.
Live Like Dogs is the latest offering from the band and is a live mini album featuring MC Dno and the HornyDogs horn section.
The eight-track album includes live material, remixes of Grandtheft Auto tracks and a live remix of the rare track Grinnin'. The Resin Dogs started out as underground favourites in Brisbane and have worked their way up to develop their own record label and tours overseas.
Individually each member of the Resin Dogs is involved in various projects, including drummer Dave Atkins and DJ Katch's hip-hop duo 2 Dogs who recently performed in Newcastle at the This Is Not Art Festival. In 1997 the group formed their own label Hydrofunk. This year the group were voted Hip Hop Artist of the Year at the Australian Dance Music Awards. They will perform at the Homebake Festival and the Falls Festival in December.
TE has five double passes to give away to the show.
