MUZZY Pep will launch their brand-new single at the Northern Star Hotel on Friday night.

The four-piece group have been quiet for the past year, writing new material for the follow-up to their debut album Moments In Weightlessness. While performing in Western Australia recently the group caught the ear of producer Shaun O'Callaghan who is noted for his work on John Butler Trio's acclaimed albumThree. 'We were touring in February and he turned up in Fremantle and was blown away by our professionalism and our sound,' guitarist/singer Errol Moyle said.

O'Callaghan produced the new single I Haven't Got Time To Spell It Out, which has received play on Triple J.

The video for the single, which was shot on location at Scott Blackley's farmhouse in East Maitland, was aired on Rage last week.

'It's got a little bit of miming, a little dress-ups and some sunset yoga,' Moyle said.

He said the group had played a few few gigs 'here and there' and written and recorded 30 songs for demo.

The group are speaking to independent and major labels about a record contract and hope to release a new album by mid-2002.

TE has two Muzzy Pep t-shirts and one double pass to give away.
