During a mammoth 40-day tour of Australia, Perth-based group Fourth Floor Collapse will squeeze in a performance at Newcastle University tomorrow night.
The group released its debut album Half Deserted Streets earlier this year which has received heavy rotation on Triple J.
Intense emotions and uplifting, yet dark atmospheres from the group offer a sound reminiscent of Radiohead. Guitarist Dan Forrestal says the group are aware they made a good album and he believes the work will speak for itself.
'That's the kind of thing we've gone for with the album -we're making more of a statement.
'Here is a big, diverse slab of what Fourth Floor Collapse can do , but it works as a whole.
'Your going to enjoy listening to it, and your going to enjoy it for a long period of time.'
The five-piece group formed in 1998 and took out first place when they entered the Statewide Next Best Thing competition in 1999.
The track Resigned was named Best Pop Song at this years WA Song Contest, with other tracks Risk and America receiving nominations.
Fourth Floor Collapse will support You Am I tomorrow night.
