Country Fills her Heart

DELIGHTFUL Australian country singer MELINDA SCHNEIDER will grace the stage at Newcastle Workers Club this Saturday night, October 28, in support of fellow Aussie country star KEITH URBAN. Schneider, daughter of famed Australia country singer and yodeller MARY SCHNEIDER, has a Nashville-recorded country album MY OXYGEN out now through Mushroom/Festival.

Aligning herself more towards the DIXIE CHICKS than SHANIA TWAIN in the contemporary country music scene, Schneider says she has always had broad musical tastes.

'I have country and pop sensibilities,' she said.

'I like to think that I'm a hip country artist doing it my own way, but there had been pressure to do the pop thing and there came a time when I had to ask myself, Am I pop or am I country?"'

Fortunately for fans of country, Schneider followed her heart. TE
