Road trip ends in opening night gig at Palais
IT has been a triumphant month for MUZZY PEP, returning from a whirlwind tour of South Australia, Victoria, NSW and Queensland while making final preparations for the release of a debut album next month.
Playing this Friday night at the opening of THE PALAIS youth venue, and Saturday night at The Castle, Muzzy Pep was asked to stand in for KILLING HEIDI at a gig at the Holsworthy Army Base a fortnight ago.
The gig, held to welcome home troops from East Timor, was a great publicity exercise for the group who were flown courtesy of the Army from Queensland to perform at the show.
Their forthcoming debut album MOMENTS IN WEIGHTLESSNESS features the song FOR EVERY GIRL, which is already available as a free MP3 download from www.muzzypep.com/freebies.htm, along with another song from the album KICKFLIP LOLLY. Moments In Weightlessness features 17 tracks, and is a travelogue of tales and observations on the last 12 months on the road.
For Every Girl was featured in the radio promotion for RICHARD KINGSMILL'S Oz Music program on TRIPLE J last month. The band is in the throes of shooting a video for the song.
Also performing at the grand re-opening of The Palais from 6pm this Friday night will be ARMY OF PRAWNS, SUPERSONIC, ENERTIA, HEDDY'S REVENGE and CASE FOR JEFFERSON. On Saturday night the venue will host a PHAT BEATZ dance party featuring KAI TIPPING and BONGO PETE with LA CONGA film screenings from 6pm, followed by DJs DIV, WENO, GROUND ASSAULT, META BASS and PYROS. There will be activities both days from 11am, including film screenings, the SPICE dance group and an exhibition of the all-ages entertainment movement from the past five years.
