'IT'S a decade of adventure, ins and outs, ups and downs,' lead singer TEX PERKINS said of the 10 years spent fronting THE CRUEL SEA. 'But listening back, the growth of the band seems very natural and with a BEST OF ..., you can pretend the moments that make you cringe never happened.'
Performing at the Newcastle Workers Club on Saturday night, The Best of The Cruel Sea features the band's best as well as a new single, a previously unreleased track THE MOST. Other tracks feature the band's idiosyncratic spicy mix of surf cuts, New Orleans R&B, reggae and roots rock.
They're all there: BETTER GET A LAWYER, THE HONEYMOON IS OVER, IT'S ALRIGHT, THIS IS NOT THE WAY HOME, 4, DOWN BELOW and BLACK STICK. The CD features a hilarious new film clip for IT WON'T LAST which sees the band members moonlighting as a slick boy band, complete with limousine, matching outfits and dance moves.
To get the BACKSTREET BOYS feel the group even had a choreographer on duty, although in typical Cruel Sea style they did it their way.
'She turned up,' Tex said.
'We sat back and watched while she danced in front of us and we just tried to follow along.'
TE has two double passes to Saturday's show to give away. We also have five copies of BEST OF THE CRUEL SEA to give away.
