Music For the Folk

Who: The Huberts
Where: Northern Star Hotel
When: Wednesday March 17, 1999

ST PATRICK'S day band THE HUBERTS, tonight at the Northern Star Hotel, plays haunting Irish ballads and lively Australian folk songs.

But the group also performs Chicago blues inspired renditions of modern classics by artists such as VAN MORRISON, PAUL SIMON, JONI MITCHELL and BOB MARLEY. The band's unique approach to the material, rearranging and modernising songs, gives it a much sought-after original sound.

With audience interaction and a dry sense of humour THE HUBERTS caters to a wide audience.

Its members are MATT GAUDRY on piano, guitar and vocals, ROB LONG on bass, guitar, mandolin and vocals, and BOB CAMPBELL on fiddle, guitar and vocals.

Campbell was well known as an original folk musician in Newcastle before moving to Gulgong where he met up with Gaudry and Long forming HOME RULE. Guitarist and harmonica player WILLY BORSCHERT also performs regularly. TE
