Who: Michael Crawford
Where: Newcastle Entertainment Centre
Author: Anthony Scully
When: Wednesday September 30, 1998

HE'S the kind of performer your nana is going to love - he's Mr Cleancut - and he can do no wrong as far as his fans are concerned.

MICHAEL CRAWFORD is also the 10-million-plus album man, according to his record company, thanks largely to his title role in the ANDREW LLOYD-WEBBER musical PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (and the original London cast soundtrack which has sold 12million copies worldwide).

It will be songs from the ANDREW LLOYD-WEBBER musicals that audience will be expecting to hear at Crawford's concerts at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre this week, the final showing of which will be seen tonight.

AN EVENING WITH MICHAEL CRAWFORD sold so well in Newcastle that an additional performance was added to his Hunter run - last night - and tickets to see his 40-piece orchestra and the 24-member NEWCASTLE CHORALE CHOIR have been in hot demand.

But Crawford had a career before Phantom for which he earned a multitude of awards.

Crawford had a distinguished film career before the television series SOME MOTHERS DO 'AVE 'EM made him an international name as the bumbling Frank Spencer.

Crawford came to the stage as a boy soprano, cementing his lifelong involvement with choirs, which led to a dramatic career which delivered him the role of BILLY on the West End and a SHOW BUSINESS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR AWARD. His latest album ON EAGLES WINGS features spiritual songs gathered over the past two years as well as standards

TE has two MICHAEL CRAWFORD PACKS containing his latest CD and the video MICHAEL CRAWFORD IN CONCERT to give away.
