Where: University - Bar on the Hill
When: Thursday March 23, 2006

NOVOCASTRIANS can get a taste of Brisbane band Sekiden's latest pop offering when they perform at the Bar On The Hill at Newcastle University tomorrow night.

Sekiden's penchant for the electronic synthesiser and keyboards sound of the late '70s and early '80s has helped the trio develop their own brand of pop.

The band's album Junior Fiction came after their two critically acclaimed EPs, Better Music Through Mathematics and Love Songs For Robots .

They received weeks of high rotation on national radio station Triple J , as well as featuring on the ABC TV music show Rage and Foxtel's Channel V .

They played 11 consecutive national tours in two years, including performances at the Big Day Out .

Audiences can hear songs from the band's new album, Sound Instincts, which is due out in early April, at their show tomorrow night.

The band will play alongside Spod, I Heart Hiroshima and Newcastle act Heartbreak Club .

Tickets are available at the Newcastle University venue. The cost is $8 for students and $10 for guests.
