FRESH from supporting US band My Chemical Romance at three sell-out shows on their Australian tour, Adelaide punk rockers The Hot Lies are set to headline two shows in Newcastle.
The Hot Lies will play at the Cambridge Hotel on Saturday and present an all- ages show in the afternoon followed by an over 18s gig in the evening.
The Hot Lies burst onto the scene in March, 2004 when their home-recorded demo Bullets and Blacklines found its way onto high rotation on Triple J. This paved the way for an EP, Streets Become Hallways, which spent more than 30 weeks on the AIR indie charts.
As a live act the band has developed a reputation as one of the most explosive outfits in the country. In October it was invited to play the Adelaide leg of the Taste of Chaos tour alongside heavyweights The Used, Story of the Year and Killswitch Engage. In September the band returned with its second EP, Heart Attacks and Callous Acts, which debuted at 36 on the ARIA charts.
Supporting The Hot Lies on Saturday will be Sydney four-piece Grand Fatal who have passed through Newcastle several times since forming just 18 months ago.
Casey Harbour will open the all-ages gig while I Said Venice, You Heard Vegas play at the evening show.
Tickets for both shows on sale now from Soundworld, Beaumont St Beat, The Rock Shop, the venue and online at bigtix.com.au
