LAST year Newcastle welcomed its own mini-festival to the annual calendar with the introduction of Showdown at Sundown. Starring the likes of MXPX, Lagwagon and Von Bondies, it was a big success and has paved the way for a second event this year.
Showdown at Sundown 2005 will bring long-standing US punk band Unwritten Law, Aussie greats Radio Birdman, Canada's Crowned Kings, Hawaiian dub/reggae outfit Pepper and local newcomers The Common Code together on stage at Panthers Newcastle on Sunday, October 2. Organisers Big Apachee say this year's event is shaping up to be bigger and better than the last.
For the first time it will open its doors to punters of all ages.
Bands will perform across two rooms, with the Cow Folk Corral: Apprentice Stage designated as the all-ages area while the Saloon Bar will, as the name suggests, be licensed.
More acts are still to be announced, so stay tuned. so stay alert for further details. Tickets cost $55 plus a booking fee from Panthers Newcastle.
