Harry's Lookout To Enjoy The View

Who: Harry's Lookout
Where: QWB - Queens Wharf Brewery
When: Thursday September 29, 2005

EMERGING original blues, roots and rock band Harry's Lookout is set to take the next step in its music career by launching their debut EP.

Enjoy The View is the title and it will be launched at The Brewery tomorrow night.

Writing, recording and releasing an album has come fairly quick for a band that only formed this year.

The four-piece has risen quickly through the ranks of Newcastle's original music scene, performing at venues such as The Band Room, Bar On the Hill and the Great Northern Hotel. Harry's Lookout frontman Jacob Cook has been involved in the city's live music scene for the past five years, performing his original music at many different venues and events.

His songwriting talent was recognised last year when he won the Acoustica of The Nation competition, which landed his music on a compilation CD that showcased some of the best acoustic artists in the state. Cook added a new dimension to his music with the introduction of lead guitarist Thomas Dutton, bass player Kye Burtonwood and drummer Shaun Parkes. He said the band's music had been likened to everything from Muddy Waters to Led Zeppelin. Harry's Lookout will also play the Ocean View Hotel on Friday and during the Mattara Festival at Civic Park on October 8 before Cook heads to Europe for a 12-month stint.
