TRENT Grenell is dead.
Well, metaphorically speaking that it.
The solo singer- songwriter has been fronting his new six-piece band Seabellies since returning from a stint in Europe earlier this year.
Already established as a soloist, Grenell now wants to get the band's name out there.
Seabellies was formed with the help of brother Kyle Grenell along with Antony Martin on piano and keyboard, drummer Jae Nelson and classical guitarist and bassist Edwardian Garvin. Another addition to the line-up is Swedish violinist Johanna Ojala who left her group The Grand Opening back home to relocate to Australia with Grenell and play music.
Seabellies' sound is an ambitious blend of layered sounds that combines an ethereal electronic sounds, strings, metalaphone, melodicas with soaring guitars and Scandinavian influenced melodies.
Last month the band played a handful of shows around Newcastle and will return to the stage tonight in The Glasshouse at the Cambridge Hotel. ``We are so excited,'' Grenell said.
``We have worked really hard and can't wait to get the new stuff out there.
We are really proud of our new songs.'' Seabellies will also play the Great Northern Hotel on Sunday, October 16.
