PREPARE to be shocked, appalled, revolted and thrilled all at once when The New Jim Rose Circus hits town next month.
A fourth date was added to the Melbourne leg of the Australian tour due to demand and Novocastrians will have the chance to see the controversial show for themselves when it appears at Newcastle Civic Theatre on Saturday, November 19.
The circus, which is a travelling troupe of human `freaks', has been touring the globe since the early '90s.
It began in 1992 when Rose and his troupe appeared at the Lollapalooza festival in the US.
Publications ranging from the Wall Street Journal to Rolling Stone said it was like nothing seen before.
The latest show, praised by Rolling Stone as an ``absolute must-see act'', is described by Rose as ``comedy with a little less shock and a lot more sex''.
Based around a battle of the sexes, the show is probably the most shocking to hit the Civic since Jackass star Steve-O's appearance last year.
It includes daring new stunts and an alluring new troupe member, as well as old favourites like B aac b aac the Circus Queen, The Amazing Mr Lifto, Rupert the lawnmower-wielding salad maker and Big Mak, the world's fattest contortionist.
The show is not for the faint- hearted.
Tickets are on sale this week through Ticketek on 4929 1977 or ticketek.com.au
