IT has been yet another bumper year for Australian blues band Bondi Cigars. Regarded as one of the country's finest live outfits, the Cigars have built and maintained their solid reputation with a blend of R&B, soul and funk.
On Friday night the band begins another tour that will take them through Tasmania, Victoria and NSW, finishing with two shows in Newcastle in late November.
The Bondi Cigars will play at the Caves Beach Hotel on Saturday, November 26 and the Burwood Bowling Club on Sunday, November 27.
Joining them for the ride will be drummer Joel Sutton, of Mal Eastick Band fame, who will be introduced to fans as Frank Corby departs to spend more time with his family.
Recent highlights for the Bondi Cigars included appearances at the Blues On Broadbeach Festival, Darling Harbour Jazz Festival and East Coast Blues and Roots Festival. Their last album, 12 Lies, took out Best Album at the 2004 Australian Blues Awards .
The band was also honoured with the awards for Best Group and Best Producer.
