AFTER completing a recent tour in his homeland, African musician Afro Moses is back to headline the second African Festival in Newcastle next month.

It will appear at Newcastle Panthers on Sunday, June 12.

People of all ages are encouraged to come along and celebrate the colourful culture of Africa with live music, dance and markets selling traditional cloth, clothes and carvings.

Ghana-born Moses will headline the event with his energetic band Moses O'Jah playing a fusion of African beats, reggae and funk.

It will also act as the launch of the band's new album No Victims .

Other acts confirmed for this year's festival include Ivory Coast musician Gervais Koffiand and his band The African Diaspora, Ethiopian artist Dereb Desalegn and South African guest Nhlanhla Phewa , who will lead a dance workshop.

There will also be displays from percussion and dance groups, a host of rappers, including Local Knowledge, a children's segment with Moses and more.

Tickets to the all-ages event are on sale at Newcastle Panthers and cost $20 for adults and $12 for children aged 16 and under.
