IN the five years The Martini Club has been performing together the group has earned and maintained a reputation for tight performances and slick production.
A sexy fusion of house, funk, disco, jazz and Latin is what The Martini Club prides itself on as a live act.
By using both live instruments and turntables, the group has won fans both on the club scene and festival circuit, including events like Field Day. It comprises six regular members, Mark Olsen (DJ, drums), Pascal Pouzet (DJ, percussion), Adam `Sloth' Burrell (horns, keyboards, FX), Barel Wachtel (percussion), Will Farge (saxophone) and Towera Smith (vocals), and a host of guests.
Collectively they have worked with a diverse range of acts including everyone from The Crystal Method and Run DMC to Jurassic 5 and Grand Master Flash. Although The Martini Club regularly performs along the east coast, it will be the band's first show in Newcastle when it performs at King Street Hotel on Saturday night.
Diversity plays a large part in The Martini Club's success, as does improvisation.
The Martini Club will be supported by DJ Kavon downstairs at King Street Hotel from midnight.
