Joel's Poetry In Motion

BEATBOX chart-topper Joel Turner and his group the Modern Day Poets return to Newcastle tonight for a headline gig at the University of Newcastle's Bar on the Hill. It follows an appearance at the Melbourne International Music Festival last weekend where the three-piece shared the bill with Blondie, Michael Franti and Taj Mahal. Turner, who made an unexpected rise to the top last year with the emotionally-driven tune These Kids, has been on the road non-stop since the track hit the charts.

He is back in the charts again with the album's second single Knock U Out which features a guest rap appearance by boxing star Anthony `The Man' Mundine. Advance tickets cost $12 for students $18 for guests on campus at Contact or $20 at the door.
