TIRED of going out to a club and hearing the same songs played every week? Then a new night dedicated to serving up only the latest tunes should solve the problem.
Afrosound International is the brainchild of Newcastle hip hop connoisseur Ki-mani and Sydney DJ Mr Phat. Both frequently play clubs around Newcastle and Sydney while Mr Phat hosts his own hip hop show The Mixtape on Radio 2LND in Sydney.
The pair have combined their knowledge and experience as Afrosound International in an effort to liven things up on the scene with new and unreleased tunes. Ki-mani said punters could expect to hear new tracks by the likes of Ja Rule, Chingy, Sean Paul, Ciara and Ludacris when the show appears at The Band Room @ Newcastle Leagues Club on Friday night.
``We both thrive on breaking and promoting hot new hiphop, R'n'B, dancehall and reggae from the US, Jamaica and worldwide,'' Ki-mani said.
``This means most of the music you would hear at our events will be current and unreleased, unlike many nightclubs and DJs that have old, boring playlists often played week in and week out.'' Doors open at 9.30pm and entry costs $10 at the door. Visit www.djmrphat.com for more information.
