AFTER months of anticipation, The Great Dividing Range is finally setting forth this month on a mission to prepare Newcastle for the launch of its long overdue debut album.
With a handful of successful gigs already under its belt, the band will play a series of shows around Newcastle throughout June and July.
The Great Dividing Range was formed from the ashes of Triple J Unearthed winners Muzzy Pep. Comprising Scott Blackley on guitar and vocals, Luke Bennett on drums, Stephen Bisset on guitar, Pete Kreft on bass, Chris Alford on keys and Rocky Higgins on vocals, The Great Dividing Range concentrates its focus on alternative country rock.
With his Muzzy Pep days behind him, Blackley has ventured into this band with a whole new set of ideas, which are presented to the audience through his songwriting.
The self-titled album will be released through Non Zero , home to the likes of Peabody and Bluebottle Kiss , and will be launched at the Cambridge Hotel on Saturday, July 23.
In the meantime, hear songs from the album when the band performs at The Brewery tomorrow night followed by the Cambridge Hotel on Wednesday, June 15 and the Beach Hotel on Saturday, June 25.
