BACK when Jack White was still relatively unknown, the White Stripes frontman came across three 15-year-old musos calling themselves Whirlwind Heat. White heard one of the band's recordings and was impressed enough to invite the trio on tour.
Forming a close relationship with White proved fruitful a few years later when White found fame and invited Whirlwind Heat to join his record label, Third Man Records, and produce their debut record Do Rabbits Wonder? in 2003.
That same year The White Stripes and Whirlwind Heat toured Australia as part of the Livid festival.
Now, after a two-year gap, Whirlwind Heat has returned to our shores to support Australian blues duo The Mess Hall on their tour.
Playing bass, drums and synth, Whirlwind Heat will preview tracks from their forthcoming album Types of Wood, which was entirely self- financed and self-produced by the band, at the Cambridge Hotel tomorrow night.
Tickets are on sale at the venue or online through www.moshtix.com
