One Guy And A Pipe Sharing The Magic

Who: That 1 Guy
Where: Northern Star Hotel
When: Thursday July 21, 2005

IT is sure to be one of the most memorable shows to appear at the Northern Star Hotel this year when That 1 Guy takes the stage tomorrow night.

A favourite at this year's East Coast Blues and Roots Festival, That 1 Guy has made a strong impact on audiences around the globe with his one-man show.

His performance is one not easily forgotten, with That 1 Guy, aka Mike Silverman, performing on a large, homemade instrument that he calls ``the magic pipe''.

At almost two metres tall, the pipe is a one-stringed, home-made instrument that runs through samplers and effects boxes.

Despite playing an instrument that is the only known one of its kind in the world, Silverman actually comes from a classically trained background.

He began playing in ensembles at 15 and won a scholarship to study classical upright bass at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

As That 1 Guy, Silverman recently released his debut album Songs In The Key of Beotch . Tickets cost $10 and will be available at the door.
