AFTER touring the UK and America with its Skeleton Jar album, Sydney band Youth Group is set to embark on a national jaunt next month. Beginning in Melbourne, the tour will take in most corners of the country and finish in Newcastle at the Cambridge Hotel on Friday, August 26.
Overseas interest in the band has been strong with its limited edition EP Someone Else's Dream named Single of the Week in The Independent and scoring the thumbs up from Vice Magazine. The video for new single Shadowland was also added to MTV UK. Youth Group is enjoying just as much success in America with Skeleton Jar sitting in the Top 40 of the CMJ College Charts while Shadowland was the fifth most added track on college radio.
A highlight came when the band performed on The Carson Daly Show. Touring overseas and recording has kept bass player Patrick Matthews busy.
Matthews' other band, The Vines, has been working on a new album but it is unsure whether he is going to participate in the recording sessions.
Youth Group will be joined by another one of Sydney's rising bands, The Red Riders, when they kick off their tour on August 5.
