AFTER taking the rest of Australia by storm, popular club night Kink is set to make its way back to Newcastle this weekend with one of New York's finest behind the decks.
Kink has not only enjoyed a notorious rise to the top of the Sydney club scene but also hosted tours across the country.
Responsible for bringing an impressive list of internationals to the country, including Bob Sinclair and Cassius, Kink will this week welcome DJ Albert Cabrera to King Street Hotel on Friday night.
In a career that has spanned some 20 years, Cabrera has worked with some of the biggest names in the business including Madonna and Prince. But it is on the dance scene that Cabrera has made a name for himself .
His remix of Michael Gray's party anthem Weekend stormed the charts and a remix of Audio Bully's Bang Bang is the latest to conquer the dancefloor.
Cabrera is one half of DJ and production outfit Lee- Cabrera who launched into the international dance music scene in 2001.
Their track Shake It made a huge impact in 2003 and helped cement Lee- Cabrera as a major player in the dance world.
As a DJ, Cabrera incorporates a wide-range of energetic beats into his sets, drawing on the sounds of Latin, deep, funky and progressive house throughout his performances.
Catch Cabrera playing in Newcastle as part of the Kink tour with support from Sydney DJ Ben Morris on Friday night at King Street Hotel.
Doors open at 9pm and entry costs $10.
