NEWCASTLE'S Castanet Club spawned a host of big-name personalities, and plenty of others who still perform.
Steve ``The Sandman''Abbott, Mikey Robbins, Maynard and Tony Squires were all part of the legendary comedic group in the early '80s.
While not all of the members of the Castanet Club went on to achieve national fame, they continue to work in the industry.
One of those is former Castanet Club trumpet player Kevin Mancini, now based in Bendigo.
He returns to his former stomping ground this Saturday with his band Voicepopfoible for a show at Salarium, Morrow Park Bowling Club .
The band is touring to promote its second album Blessed Are the Tastemakers.
He said punters could expect to hear acoustic and acapella music played with trumpet, four-part harmonies, acoustic and electric guitars, bass and light drumkit.
Mancini added he hoped to meet up with old friends and acquaintances while in Newcastle.
Voicepopfoible play the Salarium at Morrow Park Bowling Club on Saturday from 8pm.Entry costs $10.
