LIVID will not be part of the festival season this year.
But music lovers can still expect to see many of the big acts scheduled to play the event touring Australia.
The cancellation of the festival, which will return next year, left many bands looking for shows to play.
Some of the acts will hit Newcastle next month to play at an event which has been dubbed SHOWDOWN AT SUNDOWN at NEWCASTLE PANTHERS on Thursday, October 21.
Carried out across two stages, the ``punk vs rock'' show will feature international acts MXPX, LAG WAGON, THE VON BONDIES and THE BRONX alongside Australian bands AFTER THE FALL, THE COPS, RUBIX CUBA and SLEIGHT OF HAND. Detroit rockers The Von Bondies, comprising frontman JASON STOLLSTEIMER, guitarist MARCIE BOLEN, and drummer DON BLUM, recently welcomed bassist YASMEEN SMITH to the band after original bass player CARRIE SMITH announced her departure at a London gig late last month.
The Von Bondies released the album Pawn Shoppe Heart , produced by JERRY HARRISON of TALKING HEADS fame, in February.
Limited advance tickets go on sale today at Newcastle Panthers and cost $35 or $30 concession.
Tickets will be $40 at the door.
