Who: The Beautiful Girls
Where: QWB - Queens Wharf Brewery
When: Sunday October 31, 2004

ONCE a constant on Australia's live circuit, performances this year by THE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS have been few and far between.

But it's not because the Sydney-based blues and roots trio decided to take a well- deserved break.

This year has been very busy for The Beautiful Girls, with the band focusing on winning over fans in the United States and Canada .

The trio MATT MCHUGH, CLAY MCDONALD and MITCH CONNELLY returned from a five- month trek across North America in June and treated Australian fans to a quick tour before heading back overseas.

Touring would seem like an ideal time to pen some new tunes but, McHugh conceded, there were disadvantages.

Almost every one of the tracks he penned during the band's jaunt across America was about life on the road.

``They were all `Oh my God I'm away, I miss my girlfriend' singing about being in a van,'' McHugh said.

``When I was growing up I really, really noticed that bands on their second or third album, a lot of it was about that.

``I was almost like, `Surely I've got enough life experience that I don't have to resort to that'.'' The Beautiful Girls arrived home recently from Japan.

They will perform a special show at THE BREWERY on Sunday night. Tickets cost $20 from the venue, BEAUMONT ST BEAT, THE ROCK SHOP and SOUND WORLD.
