MELBOURNE retro rockers JET will play in Newcastle for the first time when the band starts its national tour later this month.
THEE GET WELL GONE REVUE tour will bring Jet to NEWCASTLE UNIVERSITY on May 7 with support from THE STANDS. The 14-date tour follows the band's slot on the BIG DAY OUT bill and will start in Victoria on April 25.
In its short history, Jet has risen from its garage beginnings in Melbourne to become one of the Australia's most successful rock bands.
Less than two years ago, Jet had never played out of Melbourne.
The band's success is now on par with fellow Aussie rockers THE VINES and has earned the band a huge following around the globe.
Bearing an unashamed love of bands like the ROLLING STONES and OASIS, Jet's revived rock formula has proved a success.
Jet opened for the Rolling Stones during the Australian leg of the FORTY LICKS WORLD TOUR in 2003.
The band's debut album Get Born has sold in excess of a million copies worldwide.
Singles Rollover DJ and Are You Gonna Be My Girl have become radio staples with the latter taking out the coveted top spot on TRIPLE J HOTTEST 100 poll.
Tickets to Thee Get Well Gone Revue tour go on sale March 18 on campus from CONTACT.
Jet is enjoying enormous success in the US after Get Born recently achieved Gold status.
Before heading back to Australia for its national tour, Jet will join label mates THE LIVING END and The Vines for a tour of America.
Jet will be supported by Liverpool's The Stands who have been dubbed the next big thing back at home after supporting Oasis and releasing the debut album All Years Leaving.
Following the tour, The Stands and Jet will play at the ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL in June alongside THE WHO and DAVID BOWIE.
