Healthy Reception For Band's Effort

Who: The Healing Art, Evermore, Lout
Where: The Cambridge Hotel
When: Saturday June 26, 2004

IF you have managed to check out Newcastle's original music scene lately it is likely you have come across THE HEALING ART. The Newcastle three-piece has picked up regular gigs across Newcastle with Sydney shows along the way in the past 12 months supporting THE CASANOVAS, SKULKER and THE SUPERJESUS. Its first show saw The Healing Art support New Zealand outfit EVERMORE on their Australian tour.

The roles will be reversed when Evermore support The Healing Art during the launch of the latter's debut EP Soothe at the CAMBRIDGE HOTEL on Saturday night.

Fronted by singer, guitarist and songwriter CHAD ROGERS, The Healing Art underwent several changes before the final line-up was realised.

The Healing Art signed to Newcastle-based label REIGN RECORDS this year and headed into 48 VOLT STUDIOS soon after to record the EP with producers DAVE HENDERSON and ROB TAYLOR whose past credits include THE WHITLAMS, INXS, and YOU AM I. During the recording the band borrowed a bass rig from fellow Novocastrians SILVERCHAIR and a guitar and amps from THE BABY ANIMALS. With the recording finalised, The Healing Art will launch the EP at Sydney's EXCELSIOR HOTEL on Friday night, followed by the Newcastle launch on Saturday night.

Boasting six tracks, the EP is the perfect introduction to the band's blend of catchy hooks and old- fashioned rock sensibility.

Copies of Soothe will be available at the gig before it is released nationally through MGM DISTRIBUTION on August 2.

The Healing Art will be supported by Evermore and LOUT
