AFTER the successful launch of her latest album Family Tree, MELINDA SCHNEIDER is taking her new FAMILY TREE TOUR to northern NSW.
Since winning Female Vocalist of the Year at the GOLDEN GUITAR AWARDS in 2003, Schneider has gone from strength to strength.
Family Tree exploded onto the ARIA country music charts, reaching number one in its second week.
The first single, Real People , has received strong radio airplay around Australia.
Schneider said the album was her most honest work to date.
``I feel I have to sing from a true place,'' Schneider said.
``There is something really liberating about being 100 thper cent honest. When a subject is very real there is more power in the writing.'' Family Tree is Schneider's third album and was recorded in Australia with producer and husband GRAHAM THOMPSON. It was cut with a small core of musicians led by MARK PUNCH on guitar, MICHEL ROSE on pedal steel and TIM WEDDE on accordion.
The tracks had fiddle elements added in Nashville by producer MARK MOFFATT at his BIG DOG STUDIO. ``I love the playing on this album.
You feel something special when you hear a song recorded right,'' Schneider said.
``Graham worked harder than ever to engineer my voice.
Production can sometimes take out some of the spirit of songs but he's made the whole album rootsy and real.'' Touring with Schneider will be 2004 Golden Guitar Award New Talent of the Year winner DIANNA CORCORAN and 2004 STAR MAKER winner TRAVIS COLLINS. The Family Tree Tour starts next week in Port Macquarie and will finish at MAITLAND CITY BOWLING CLUB on Friday, July 23.
