MORE than 500 people celebrated the arrival of 2004 in style when internationally renowned DJ DIMITRI FROM PARIS headlined a huge show at KING STREET HOTEL on January 1.
It was the A Night at the Playboy Mansion DJs first performance in Newcastle and was such a success that organisers will continue to bring high-profile dance acts to the city.
Organised by JEREMY RUZ who presents events under the banner LOCALBEATS it also featured Sydney DJ JASON BYE alongside local MATT MANDELL, TONE, STEVIE D, PATSAN, BOOGIE, MATHMATICS and SKOOB .
Ruz said the event has set a precedent for Newcastle's dance scene and that both the crowd and Dimitri from Paris himself commented on the quality of the event.
``The crowd commented that they have never been to a better event in Newcastle and Dimitri said that he loved the Newcastle crowd and can't wait to play here again,'' Ruz said.
Due to the overwhelming success of the event, Ruz said he is already planning to bring another big name international DJ to Newcastle later in the year.
``Keep an eye out for Easter Sunday for another big day event.
The standard for such events with Dimitri and things will only get bigger.
