Band Back With A Vengeance

Who: One Dollar Short, Something With Numbers, Draw The Line
Where: University - Bar on the Hill
When: Thursday August 26, 2004

IF you wondered what happened to Central Coast punk outfit ONE DOLLAR SHORT, you can stop guessing now.

After two years which saw the band tour the country several times, travel to Japan and release its debut album Eight Days Away , One Dollar Short burnt out.

``We hadn't written new songs for months, we didn't want to continue touring and our bass player was calling it quits,'' frontman SCOTT E. WOODS said.

One Dollar Short took an extended break and after 18 months away from the music scene, the band is back.

One noticeable difference is the permanent addition of guitarist DAN who has been playing with the band for about two years.

The band has finished recording its second full- length album and recently completed the video for its first single Some Assembly Required .

One Dollar Short's second album, Receiving Transmission , was written this year and produced by PHILLIP MCKELLAR. ``We recorded it in Sydney's Megaphon Studio, then moved to our own studio on the Central Coast to finish up some guitars,''Woods said.

``The vocals proved to be more of a challenge.

In the midst of recording at Milk Bar Studios, the place was closed down and went into receivership.

``So the vocals moved back to Megaphon, then to Mangrove Studios then finally back to Trent's [Crawford, on guitar] parents' loungeroom.'' You can catch One Dollar Short at the BAR ON THE HILL at NEWCASTLE UNIVERSITY tomorrow night with SOMETHING WITH NUMBERS and DRAW THE LINE.
