IT'S a well-known fact that British DJs love Australia's warm weather.

Every year, many of the biggest names in the business come Down Under to escape the cold weather in favour of the Aussie sun.

But that wasn't enough for JESSICA JOY. Six months ago, the London DJ packed her bags and moved to Australia, sadly leaving behind her mates at FINGER LICKIN' RECORDS. ``I just felt like I needed a change in my life and I loved Australia each time I had come down before, so I thought, `Why not?','' Joy said.

``I have the lifestyle where I can get up and go, so I thought I'd come and get some sunshine.'' Joy's career behind the decks began 10 years ago after she discovered a love of hip hop and funk which lead to her love of breakbeat while working in a London record store.

She picked up a job at Finger Lickin' Records, run by SOUL OF MAN 's JUSTIN RUSHMORE and JEM PANUFNIK , and played some of Britain's biggest break nights under the name SERAPHIM. She concedes that Australian events such as FIELD DAY are among the world's best.

Joy said she will play a ``big, funky, phat'' breaks set at NUTSHELL BREAKS on Saturday night alongside UK guest PHANTOM BEATS, and PRICECUTS, AUXILARY and KATO. Nutshell will be held at KING STREET HOTEL .

Advance tickets are $15 from PDMS, THREESIXTYSOUNDS, RAMJET, ABICUS and King Street Hotel. Tickets will cost $20 on the door.
