HIGH energy guitar pop group HORNET are back in town and celebrating with a Welcome Back gig at Newcastle's BREWERY on Friday, October 31.
Delivering a hybrid mix of 50s and 60s rock to modern classics, Hornet's unique style is generated by three lead vocalists combining to form one powerful vocal group with perfect three- part harmonies fronting the drive of a four- piece line up.
Hailing from Brisbane, the boys moved to Sydney in late 1994 and soon captured the attention of management and record companies.
Since signing with OUCH! RECORDS, Hornet have released five albums and experienced three top ten hit singles in the Australian charts and sold over 10,000 records in the Hunter.
The band's most recognisable tune to date, C'mon Mrs.
Jones , reached No.
86 on the national charts, was the second highest rotated song in Australia, and also featured on the various artists compilation discs SMASH and DRIVETIME .
Other singles include Mr.
Lazy, Don't cry mother, Counting the Beat, Alone , and Champagne Ideas .
Hornet have also headlined THE ESTABLISHMENT in Sydney for eight consecutive nights during the Sydney 2000 Olympics, released in Germany and the UK, toured with MIDNIGHT OIL , and THE BABY ANIMALS , and have gained exposure on numerous television programs in Australia including Rage, Video hits, MTV, Channel V, Midday Show, Good Morning Australia and Maynard J Crabbs on cable.
