DOUBLE platinum-selling, ARIA AWARD -winning Australian band GEORGE has announced a national tour that brings them to Newcastle's CLUBNOVA on Friday, November 28.
The band is thrilled about getting out on the road again for their STILL REAL: LIVE & INTIMATE tour to see their fans after a break from touring and playing live.
The concerts will feature intimate acoustic to full-scale electric versions of old and new material.
To coincide with the tour, george will release a new single on Monday November 17, which will be followed by an album early in 2004.
The new single is the beaut ul yet bold Still real with KATIE NOONAN taking her turn on the microphone to deliver another powerful and emotive performance.
``I wrote this song about 18 months ago,''Katie said.
``It was one of those ones that just wrote itself really I was sitting near the ocean just north of Brisbane, just me and my dodgy little '80s portable keyboard.
'' The new single is not so much a step forward as sideways; keeping a light grip on the sounds that made their debut album Polyserena such a lush and dynamic recording.
The album became platinum three weeks after its release in 2002.
It went on to sell double-platinum and stayed in the Top 10 for an incredible 15 weeks.
The album spawned the massive hits Special Ones, Run, Breathe In Now and Breaking It Slowly .
Before its release george had released three Ep's, george (1998), You Can Take What's Mine (1999) and Bastard Son/Holiday (2000).
Joining george on capital city dates on their tour is Melbourne-born singer/songwriter and 2001 TRIPLE J UNEARTHED winner MISSY HIGGINS .
The band deliver an amazing live show thanks to their incredible ability to blend elements of groove-based angelic pop and rock.
