IN terms of album releases, Sydney act BLUEBOTTLE KISS has been quite prol ic over the years.
The band now has five albums to its credit following the release of its latest album Come Across.
It follows the release of the band's critically acclaimed Revenge is Slow , an album which helped establish attention both in Australia and overseas.
Singer-songwriter JAMIE HUTCHINGS said the new album was a world away from the last album release.
``Lyrically it's a little bit d ferent because there are a lot of stories in the songs themselves,'' Hutchings said.
``The sound of the band is a little d ferent as well.
It's a little more swingier.
'' He said that in comparison to Revenge is Slow , which offered a ``dreamy summery sort of feel,'' Come Across was ``a little bit more stormier.
'' ``There is never really any conscious decision to make it d ferent from the last one.
``if we release a raucous album, chances are we'll put out an album with more fragile material next time.
'' Like past experiences, the album was recorded with minimum fuss and completed in just 10 days.
The album boasts a bonus disc titled The Cutting Floor featuring eight previously unreleased songs titled which comprises material leftover from the Revenge Is Slow sessions.
``We were going to release them as an EP but our drummer left the band and we had to deal with that, so by the time we sorted that out it was time to do another record.
''``We didn't want to lose the songs and they worked really well together so we put them out as a bonus disc for this record.
``They are quite d ferent to the new album though because they are very guitar-driven, indie rock songs.
Bluebottle Kiss is on tour and will perform at the CAMBRIDGE HOTEL on Friday night.
