IT'S been a while between gigs for The Superjesus. But their fans haven't noticed and at least 600 punters turned out to see the new-look band at Newcastle University's Bar On the Hill.Following the departure of guitarist Tim Henwood, who has since formed The Androids, The Superjesus has slimmed down to officially be known as trio. But according to
frontwoman Sarah McLeod, the band still needs someone to help recapture the band's big sound, so the band is joined by another guitarist on stage. The current tour has been a prime chance for The Superjesus to road test out new material before the new album titled Rock Music is released in May.The albums' title couldn't
speak better of what is to come. The band previewed several new songs including the first single Stick Together, mixing up its heavy rock sound laced with pop.The new tunes seemed to
go down well with the crowd, but it was the older stuff that got the biggest reaction from fans.Big numbers included Gravity, Enough To Know and Down Again, which had everyone singing along.Hidden among the punters
was McLeod's boyfriend Chris Joannou, better known as Silverchair's guitarist.Joannou and his parents spent much of the show at the back of the crowd watching on as McLeod proved herself as one of
the coolest girls in Australia rock. One of the more humorous moments of the the evening came just before The Superjesus took to the stage and The
Androids' Do it With Madonna came over the speaker.Talk about irony!
