TWO of the biggest names in Australian country music will come together for a tour of the Hunter this month.
GOLDEN GUITAR AWARD winners ADAM HARVEY and BECCY COLE will kick off a six-date tour on August 12.
The tour will see Harvey and Cole perform two individual sets followed by a joint finale in which both the pair will perform their collaborative track How Wrong Is It? .
Both have become two of Australia's most popular country performers known for their down to earth spirits and knack for recording hit records.
The past two years have been particularly successful for both Harvey and Cole.
In 2002, Harvey and Cole scooped up at the TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS when Harvey won the Golden Guitar for Album of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year and Cole won Female Vocalist of the Year.
Harvey rates the win as one of the highlights of his career.
``Winning the Golden Guitar Awards was a big buzz,'' Harvey said.
Incidentally, Harvey and Cole picked up a Golden Guitar Award together in 2001 when they won the award for Best Vocal Collaboration with DARREN COGGAN and FELICITY .
On the back of his Golden Guitar sweep, Harvey made his return in April with the release of his new album Cowboy Dreams .
Harvey said he didn't fall victim to the pressure of following up his last gold- selling album Workin' Overtime .
``I'm really happy with the album.
``You sometimes feel a bit of pressure when you have an album that goes pretty good and everyone expects you to do better everytime, but at the and of the day you just need to be happy with it yourself.
'' The album was recorded at MANGROVE STUDIOS and it took Harvey a year to complete writing and recording.
Like many country music stars, Harvey travelled to Nashville to co-write with a number of classic songwriters.
``You go over to Nashville with your own ideas but I think it adds a bit extra to the songs to actually be there.
``You're sitting with JIM MCBRIDE , who has written a lot of songs for my heroes like ALAN JACKSON , and it's incredible.
'' It wasn't Harvey's first trip to the US.
One of his biggest moments was in 2000 when he performed at the prestigious GRAND OLE OPRY in Nashville.
He sang his hit I Blame You and met country music stars RICKY SKAGGS, BILL ANDERSON and PORTER WAGONER .
``The highlight for me has been playing at the Opry, that's really when it all started for me.
'' ``It's amazing to walk out on the stage where HANK WILLIAMS and ELVIS PRESLEY have performed .
especially when I'm this half-arsed country singer from Australia.
'' Harvey will perform with Cole at SOLDIERS POINT BOWLING CLUB on August 12, HEXHAM BOWLING CLUB on August 13, PHOENIX SPORTS CLUB on August 14, BELMONT 16FT SAILING CLUB on August 15, DOYALSON-WYEE RSL CLUB on August 16 and WEST LEAGUES CLUB on August 17.
