FROM lunchtime gigs at high school to supporting Grinspoon, Brisbane punk band Razel has come a long way.
Formed in 1999, the all- girl trio has been pumping out a ferocious mix of punk topped with roaring guitars since the tender age of 15.
Razel began its musical career performing lunchtime gigs at high school, although its early performances are something the band would rather forget.
``We were at an all girls school and we played at a lunchtime gig at the boys' school next door once but we really sucked,'' drummer Claire Obst said.
``Every now and then one of the boys from that school comes up to us and says ``Oh, I remember you guys from school''.
'' Razel has since gathered plenty of experience, performing at nearly every major city between Cairns and Melbourne.
It has also also shared the stage with the likes of Killing Heidi, Snuff and Grinspoon, whose tunes it used to cover when it first started out.
``Our North Queensland tour with Grinpoon was probably the highlight for us, it's just hard to believe that we're up there playing with those guys.
'' ``It's a bit overwhelming, but we've worked really hard to get where we are and I think that if you wish for something, then you can get it.
'' Razel released its debut album Big.
Thing last month and is on the road to support the release.
Included on the tour is a date at the Enmore Theatre on April 25 and 26 alongside Grinspoon and 28 Days.
``After that gig, I think that will probably be the highlight for us.
'' Razel will perform a free show at the Cambridge Hotel tonight alongside Creeping Jesus and No Direction.
