TIME on the road has become a way of life for Melbourne rock band GERSEY, with the group spending the past seven months touring.
Although the band has been together since 1997 and has become accustomed to constant touring, it is yet to make its debut in front of a Newcastle crowd.
"We've never been to Newcastle r," bassist and vocalist CRAIG JACKSON said.
"We were going to play the Cambridge about 18 months ago but it fell through, so this time we're definitely booked in.
" The band's hectic schedule went into overdrive following the release of its second album Storms Dressed as Stars.
Recorded over three weeks, it followed the debut album Hope Springs and proved to be a sign of growth for the band.
"I think there is a real progression in the songwriting and instrumentation.
"The sounds are richer and I think I've improved my singing.
I have a singing voice now.
" As well as headlining its own shows in Australia and the US, Gersey has become festival favourites, playing at big events like LIVID and HOMEBAKE.
While Jackson speaks of his need for a well-earned break, he admits that he finds it hard to say no to touring.
"We're always on the road so it would be good to have a little rest.
"But having said that, there are a lot of shows coming up that we wouldn't mind playing so no doubt we'll be on the road again.
"That's our problem I think ust love it so much that we don't know when to stop.
" Gersey will perform at the CAMBRIDGE HOTEL on Saturday night with GELBISON and MICKYFIN.
