TYPE the word BUBBLEVICIOUS into your search engine and you'll be hit with many sites affiliated with cartoon trio the POWERPUFF GIRLS. Hidden among them you will find a site for another female trio going by the name Bubblevicious.
Serving up a blend of all-girl punk pop, the Sydney three-piece will return to Newcastle this weekend.
Following its last gig in Newcastle with TWIN PSYCHE, Bubblevicious will reunite with the band along with two other local acts.
Since forming 18 months ago, Bubblevicious has created a sound that borrows from a wide range of influences.
Drummer NERIDA WU says the trio has diverse musical tastes, including the likes of THE CURE, SLIPKNOT and RADIOHEAD. 'I'm not sure how we managed to get together because we've got such different influences,' Wu said.
'But I think it comes out in our sound a little bit. We're not strictly one genre because we borrow from so many different things'
Bubblevicious will perform at the CAMBRIDGE HOTEL on Saturday night with Twin Psyche, BITCHCRAFT and newcomers AMETHYST. Doors open at 8pm and entry is $3.
