Flight Path To Success

Who: An Empty Flight, Twin Psyche, Supersonic
Where: The Cambridge Hotel
When: Saturday November 9, 2002

FORMERLY known as PHLOEM, Sydney four-piece AN EMPTY FLIGHT has since adopted a new name and a new approach to music.

The group formed 18 months ago, but before changing its moniker it had the chance to support the likes of FOO FIGHTERS and BLINK 182. 'When we changed our name we realised that we were essentially a new band,' guitarist JOSH PYKE said.

'Our tastes had changed and we became a lot more professional.'

Pyke wasn't kidding when he said professional. The band made the bold move of asking ARIA award-winning producer PAUL MCKERCHER (AUGIE MARCH, YOU AM I) to produce its debut EP ART VS COMMERCE. 'I think the EP sounds very professional compared to what we have done in the past and it has been really well received, so I'm glad we did it the way we did,' Pyke said.

An Empty Flight will perform at THE CAMBRIDGE HOTEL on Saturday night with TWIN PSYCHE and SUPERSONIC.
