Indie Pop King Set to Try His Luck at Lucky Country

When: Saturday June 29, 2002

AUSTRALIA'S King of Indie Pop will headline a special solo show at The Lucky Country Hotel on Saturday night.

Former Custard frontman and Titanics member Dave McCormack will join local bands Scagnetti and Energy Town in a show upstairs at the hotel.

McCormack has been performing solo around the traps of Sydney and has released a debut solo album.

The album, titled The Matterhorn, was released last year and was originally put together to complement a gallery show for a friend.

The plan resulted in McCormack's first solo release, which featured a wealth of instrumentation and additional sounds courtesy of low flying jets landing near the recording studio.

Scagnetti will showcase new material from its forthcoming EP Crazy Joe Cola. The EP was recorded in May and according to drummer Tim Browning, the title was influenced by a 'long lost iceblock flavour.'

Describing their sound as 'Australian indie pop', Browning said locals can expect to hear a lot more from Scagnetti this year.

'We will release the EP in coming weeks and we'll definitely be playing a lot more around town,' Browning said.

The show kicks off at 8.30pm and entry is $5.
